WELCOME to the natural world as Foxy saw it! I have marvelled at the world around me since I was a small child. I am forever awestruck! Here you will find my digital images as well as textual information for species and situations in which I have a special interest. Sorry, but I'm unabashedly a bird photographer!
Photography, according to Scott Bourne, "is about telling the story we have each been given to tell". These images are my stories. They are also prayers of gratitude for the experience of the encounters, and for wisdom for humankind that we may learn to live sustainably. I hope that my grandchildren and their children's children will also have many similar encounters.
By sharing my visual stories and knowledge, I hope to increase awareness, appreciation and concern for the natural world. May wonder guide us in becoming an enhancing presence in this incredible universe!
“The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)
"The eyes of the future are looking back at us and they are praying for us to see beyond our own time. They are kneeling with hands clasped, praying that we might act with restraint, that we might leave room for the life that is destined to come. To protect what is wild is to protect what is gentle. Perhaps the wilderness we fear is the pause between our own heartbeats, the silent space thats says we live only by grace. Wilderness lives by this same grace. Wild mercy is in our hands." Terry Tempest Williams in Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place (1991)
"The world was not created for people only, but for purposes that transcend the human race with its limited foresight and imagination; therefore it behooves all conscious inhabitants of this superb planet to nurture it as a garden, maintaining it in health, beauty and diversity for whatever glorious future its denizens may together share.” J. Stan Rowe in Home Place, Essays on Ecology (1990)
